Just when things coudn't get any more laughable here, our elected county officials decide they need more money for wages.

Elected Oxford county officials have done such a great job...they are looking for ways to increase their own wages in order to attract...get this, better people.

So, is the county warden saying that the reason for all of the screw ups, is because we do not pay enough, and as a result, all we have elected are dolts?

His statement, "higher wages brings more quality people" could very well be correct.

Obviously the low wages we pay here has resulted in the election of a group of people who are low quality and poor calibre.

Personally, the wages of elected officials should be an election issue...not an issue that should be decided by the elcted people themselves. any committe investigating higher wages should not include any of the people who were elected. It is obvious they would increase their own wages if given the opportunity.

I tend to feel that a wage increase should be dependent upon the county councils' performance, which so far has been terrible.

Canadian News..Oxford county politics, International news and more.
