Who Reads Bender's Blog?
There have been a couple of comments that have suggested David Creery doesn't read this blog. That's ridiculous since he posted his letter on this blog but it got me thinking. Just who does read this blog?
I asked Jim and he supplied me with a partial summary report for the last 30 days. This report lists the ISPs that have accessed the blog. It doesn't list individual hits. It doesn't in any way indicate the identity of readers or posters. So relax. You're still anonymous, even if you're posting from a corporate IP, but if you're reading or posting from The House of Commons we've got a pretty good idea who you are. If you're reading or posting from a personal Rogers account all we know about you is you're one of the anonymous hundreds of thousands (millions?) of people that use Rogers.
The list is some 280 entries in length. Most are personal service providers but as Rogers, Sympatico and the other big service providers have regional nodes and the locations of the smaller ISPs are listed it is clear this blog is read by people from coast to coast. That includes the coasts of the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Japan. J
Who's Reading, by geographical location:
Every major city in Canada and plenty of not-so-major ones, most of the states from our neighbour to the South, and…. Jamaica, Brasil, Mexico, Netherlands, Australia, Argentina, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, and Kenya.
Who's Reading, Government:
The County of Oxford, Public Works and Government Services Canada, Correctional Services Canada, Ehealth Ontario, Canadian House of Commons,
Dept. Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Industry Canada, Lee County Board of Commissioners Florida (whoa?), Province of British Columbia, Regional Municipality of Peel, City of Guelph, City of Beaumont and The Region of Halton.
Who's Reading, Education:
Fanshawe College, University of Calgary, Thames Valley District School Board, University of Manitoba, University of Waterloo, Consestoga College, Indiana Department of Education, Ottawa Carleton District School Board, Ryerson, Halton Board of Education, University College of the Fraser Valley, University of British Columbia, University of Guelph, University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Leeds, University of Toronto, University of Western Ontario, Wilfrid Laurier University
Who's Reading, Media:
Sun Media Corporation, 104.7 Heart FM, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Toronto Star.
Who's Reading, Misc.
London Health Sciences Centre, St Josephs Health Centre, Australian Prudential Regulation Authority??, General Motors Corporation, Ontario Hydro, St. Michaels Hospital, Toronto Public library Board and, there are more, but I think you get the point.
Remember. That's a partial listing of ISPs and corporate users that have accessed the blog over the last 30 days. That equates to many thousands of individual reads.
Not bad for what most Woodstonians think is a marginalized local blog. Just remember, next time you're reading an entry on this blog it's probably also being read by your City, County, Provincial and Federal elected representatives, as well as a whole gaggle of bureaucrats, educators and other interested parties. If you've got something to say and you want it to be heard you're better off sending it to Jim than the Sentinel. Actually, you should send it to both.
People at the House of Commons, the CBC, Toronto Star, various local municipalities and folks from as far away as Australia and Kenya are wondering where Waldo is and why he won't answer the questions. Gotta wonder just who is going to bed tonight, scratching their heads, and wondering who put the inmates in charge of the asylum in Woodstock.
Dear CBC: (I know you’re looking.)
ReplyDeleteI’d like to sympathize with the difficulties you’re having with Sun Media and The Conservative Party. They are waging a coordinated campaign against you that is, in large part, the accusation that you are merely a PR outlet for The Left and routinely conspire with them to misinform or not inform the public in ways that favour The Left.
Maybe they’re right. Maybe they’re not. They are, however, on shaky ground when they pretend to do so from a position of moral superiority.
If you’re looking for evidence of Sun Media and Conservatives conspiring to keep the public in the dark to hide corruption and avoid political embarrassment you’re looking in the right place.
Take a closer look at Woodstock. Turn over a few rocks. You’ll find what you’re looking for.
I might even let you peek at my rock collection. :)
And a fine rock collection you have indeed:)
ReplyDeleteEverybody has an agenda. Never tell the truth lie to get ahead. I am so sick of all this. I am picking up my rocks and going to stone a few people.
ReplyDeleteThe CBC should produce a new show called Governmentplace. It would be the same format as Marketplace but they'd expose municipal government scams rather than private business scams. That would be a real service to the taxpayers who fund the CBC. It might serve to make them more relevant to the man on the street too. The CBC could use some grassroots support right about now.
ReplyDeleteBetter yet maybe a privately funded network could air such a show so I don't have to pay for it. This is only my personal opinion but I see NO value this day in age in having a publicly funded broadcaster. The big difference between SUN Media ( whether we like then or not ) and the CBC is that SUN is not using my money to forward their political agenda. ( unless of course I subsrcibe to there publication or television news network ) The CBC on the other hand I have no choice but to fund them and their political agenda.
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right about the private network. I only mentioned the CBC because they are the ones currently under attack and might have the motivation to take action. As long as we're paying we might as well see if we can get a return on the investment.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget. This is Canada. All broadcasters are funded, to some extent or another, by our tax dollars. The CRTC sees to that.
