Soccer club outrage? A Submission....AW

The new Sentinel website has a story titled Soccer club ‘outraged’
by radio reports. It should be title Sentinel "outraged" by Heart FM
reporting the news.

You should read it. It's a whining marathon sponsored by Pat Sobeski
and the Soccer Club. It opens with: "Duane Griffith, president of
the Woodstock Soccer
Club, is outraged by a local radio station’s media coverage
surrounding what he and Woodstock Mayor Pat Sobeski call a simple
formality."

We've got a Mayor and bunch of eltiist entitlement chicks who think
continuing to bleed the taxpayers for more money every year is a
"simple formality." I've got a newsflash for both of them,
The people who you are taking the money from disagree.
The people you are taking the money from are sick and tired of a
Mayor who preaches fiscal responsibility and spends like a drunken
sailor. Most of all the people you are taking the money from are
sick and tired of funding every elitist special interest group that
manages to get the ear of Council. The public has said ENOUGH!

The Heart FM poll showed 80% of respondents object to more money
going to the Soccer Club. That poll was up over the long weekend.
It ran for days. There were well over 500 responses.
The taxpayers have spoken. Will the Mayor listen?
Will the Mayor "restore our confidence in local democracy?"

Thank you Heart FM. You are making a difference.
The simple fact that both Council and The Sentinel felt the need
to run the story proves it. Please continue your efforts on our
behalf.

You too Jim. :)

  1. I don't feel ike paying for their personal electric usage. Hell, in this town, when I approached people about building a group home for people who cannot even wipe their own asses I was told to fuck right off...it ain't the locals problem.
As far as Im concerned, the folks that use it, can damned well pay. If I ever make it into office, ill cut the fucking thing from the budget.

Nobody wants to deal with the mentally challenged, sick or people that are in need of help. When I say people who need help I am not talking about the drug invested fucks who can't get their shit together.
I am speaking of the mentally challenge, their caregiver, who are brushed off ignored. These caregivers do everything they can to help these people, saving local, provincial and federal government a lot of money.
Then you get these people who bitch about oh how expensive soccer, baseball, hockey and all these other sports. If you want your kids to play these sport, then pay for them. I mean pay for all the expenses
It is time the tax payer stop funding everything.
Oh by the way I don't have children but I very much dislike paying for people's children who live in $300,000 homes.
Just one frustrated tax payer and caregiver.

Did you read the story in the paper? They are so rattled by the public actually paying attention to what they are up to that they referred to Bob McFarland's past dealings as justification for their actions.

Bob McFarland? Isn't he the guy they canned for incompetence? When they start using him to cover their asses you know they are out of ammunition and running in circles.

This Council and administration are nothing more than a corrupt Chinese Fire Drill.

    City Council's new motto:
When in danger, fear or doubt
Run in circles, jump and shout.

Oh I read the article, I just went on a rant way off topic, but I did sort of come back to it. Bender got me going when I read his post. Sick and tired of taxes, lying governement officials, high taxes. I think I am going to need to go for a walk. Aghhh just frustrated. Next time I will try to stay on topic better next time. Usually I do pretty good.

I wasn't intending to dump on you for your off topic rant. "Did you read..." was just a rhetorical question to anyone who was reading the blog.

Pointing out that we are funding elitist playgrounds while the truly needy go without is always on topic.

In the letter the Soccer Club presented to Council to justify the cash grab they used "unusually high" electrical bills and unspecified mechanical problems as the reasons for their request.

In the story in the Sentinel they make no mention of these (mythical) problems. Now the story is all about how their feelings are hurt and what ungrateful bastards we are for noticing their hands in our pockets-again. If I may say, with all due respect, Piss Off!

That story just makes one simple statement. The Soccer people are entitled to their entitlements, and Sobeski agrees with them.

Nope did not think you were dumping on me. Sometimes I go on a rant, just frustrated with so much lately. Sobeski and his crew are frustrating. I did get a laugh their feelings were hurt from Heart FM poll. My feelings are hurt with all the tax dollars.

  9. There is only one tax payer, yet we are having our pockets picked from 3 levels of government continuously. I for one am tired of the waste, and saddling the debt forward to future generations. If the medical community is becoming more of a 'user pay' system then shouldn't something less relevant like soccer also be user pay? Who the hell is managing the soccer 'dome' anyway? It sure appears like they do not have a hand on the helm, and now expect us to pick up the tab for their incompetence. How is this justifiable???

Incompetence? You're assuming they've run out of money. Have you seen a financial statement? Are they out of money? Is the wolf at the door? I doubt it.

All they've said so far is they are entitled to the money because a certain sum was budgeted in the original agreement.

That amount was budgeted to cover a possible future "need." They haven't demonstrated any need. The best they can come up with is "unusually high" hydro bills. The city engineer has said that claim is bogus and the soccer club never said they didn't have the money to pay their bills.

They don't need the money. They just feel entitled to it. They actually believe we owe it to them. I expect that attitude from a bunch of elitist recreation parasites. I wish I could say I don't expect that attitude from the mayor and council but it comes as no surprise at all.

Don't focus on the soccer club. If you do you'll miss the point. They're not the problem. Focus on The Mayor. He's the one that makes the decisions. He's the one that intends to give them our money, and he'll do it again the next time some special bunch comes begging for money. He'll do it because saying no is hard. Saying no makes you unpopular with those influential entitlement lobbyists.

Saying yes is easy - when it's somebody else's money. Saying yes gets your picture in the paper handing over a big check or cutting a ribbon. Saying yes gets you invited to cocktail parties.

Never mind the soccer club. That $75,000 is peanuts compared to what they'll squander on entitlements and influence peddling over the next three years. Just watch them.

We should have elected the guy who said: "It's about time elected politicians realized the taxpayer is not a bottomless pit of money."

    Oh wait. We did.

I don't know why Duane Griffith is so outraged at Heart FM and the great unwashed (who pay his bills.) Harold DeHaan is the one that called him a liar.

From Heart FM: "He (DeHaan) believes the current hydro bills at the Cowan Park building aren't out of the ordinary."
