Should be titled; Rogers delivers crap services and lies to its' customers not...Rogers feeling the strain of tighter competition

Rogers feeling the strain of tighter competition

Frankly, I think the real reason they are being knocked around the block is due to their shabby practices in dealing with its' existing customers.
Heck, last August, Rogers sent me a notice stating that my rates were going up. I called them, complained about the poor services and that there was no real justification for a rate increase on my cable. They made a deal....they offered to keep my rates at $64.20 a month for the next 12 months....I agreed thinking Rogers was agreeing when in fact they didn't.
Last month they sent me a notice stating my rates were going up despite the fact they had made a contract with me stating the rates would remain the same. They refused to back down.
I terminated the cable in my home and went to Apple TV instead which runs off of the internet flawlessly with no additional fees.
Rogers was unhappy and decided to assess me a $120.00 early cancellation fee for cancelling my cable despite them violating a contract.
I haven't paid it, nor will I. I did however prorate the bill and did send them what they were really owed....about $35.00 in actual cable usage.
I figure that we had a contract for services. I by my choice did not break the contract, Rogers did by arbitrarily raising the rates despite a contract being in effect.
I shouldn't owe them a dime, but they say I do. Obviously this is one customer who will not be returning to the Rogers fold anytime soon despite being a good paying customer for more than 10 years.
I think their problems are much larger than just not being able to compete, it really boils down to the poor quality of services, the lies made to retain customers, and the constant nickle and diming of the customer.
I've decided in favour of the cost of a small claims court action against them in the event they attempt to collect their piddly $120.00 and will search out others who were burned by Rogers which eventually may lead to a wider suit against their business practices which are in my mind as crooked as can be.
There are only a few million Canadians and once they've burned them all they'll be out of business.

I dumped Rogers years ago for similar reasons and went with Shaw Satellite instead. The cost is about the same but Shaw have been consistantly helpful, honest and courteous any time I've dealt with them.

I don't understand why anyone would continue with Rogers when there are much better alternatives available.
