Maxime Bernier: Give Keynes the boot | FP Comment | Financial Post

The only thing I wonder about this is whether or not he used his staffers to write his opinion piece.
Based on past writings of Maxime, I doubt this was personally penned, or was it?

He made sense until the last two paragraphs where he says "the Conservative government didn't lose control of spending." He wants us to believe that's a good thing.

Of course they didn't lose control of spending. They had complete control. THEY DID IT ON PURPOSE! It was no accident. Harper's so-called Stimulus Package(s) were nothing more than a classic example of what Bernier is criticizing where Keynes is concerned. You only have to look at the growth of the federal civil service and our national debt under Harper to see he worships Keynes just as much as the Liberals or NDP.

Bernier may have written the bulk of this piece but if he wrote the last two paragraphs there was a gun held to his head.

  2. I was wondering about those last two lines. He must be stupid as shit to say that they didn't lose control of spending....let's just say he's a profound liar.

    "....let's just say he's a profound liar."

Or he found a way to tell the truth by carefully wording those lines so people would see the logical contradiction.

There was a letter to the editor written by the chairman of the board of the South Gate Centre last year that served the same purpose.

The letter was in response to the rumour that Pat Sobeski had approached South Gate to get them to replace the gallery people at 449 Dundas. Sobeski denied it ever happened and the letter was obviously written under the direction of City Hall. They just weren't smart enough to read it carefully before it was printed.

The letter opened by stating it was being written to put to rest the rumours. Then it went on to very carefully state that the board of directors had never met to consider the move to 449 as suggested by the mayor. The writer was very careful in avoiding a clear denial that Sobeski had approached them. All he said was they didn't call a meeting to consider the mayor's suggestion.

He told the truth in the only way he could to avoid the negative political consequences of openly calling Sobeski a liar. Which of course he was.

I think Bernier sent a message in that opinion piece.
