ReplyDeleteYou can argue whether it's our place to be self appointed police of the world, but stopping this sort of barbarism is largely why we went in the first place.
No it isn't. The coalition went to Afghanistan to get Bin Laden and stop the export of terrorism. That was the sole justification.
ReplyDeleteThe evangelistic crusade to Christianize the pagan barbarians became the cover story when they finally realized they blew the whole Bin Laden thing.
Afghanistan, and its neighbours are what they are and they like it that way. They don't want to be us and they sure as hell have no interest in swapping their cultural values and religion (same thing) for ours. That's why they take such delight in killing coalition troops at every opportunity. They treat us as invaders and occupiers because that's what we are.
Time to leave.
