Minister fights back on crime bill
Canadian jail cells are not going to be brimming with teenagers and college kids who share pot with their pals, according to Justice Minister Rob Nicholson

So if jail cells aren't going to be filled up with kids and college students who might smoke a bit of weed with their friends(which incidentally is trafficking by definition....even passing a joint from one person to the next that is)just what exactly are they planning to do with them? Send them to the ovens or something?

The CONS are in the process of removing certain aspects of sentencing provisions such as the ability of a judge to take into account work, family or psychological issues when sentencing defendants. If judges do not have the ability to reasonably adjust a sentence, then one can only assume that under the new provisions, no provision will be made for college students or others to share marijuana freely without encountering the judiciary such as the justice minister claims.
In other word, he's lying.
