Ingersoll Family Doctor Killed In Accident
Dr Kelly Shaughnessy of Ingersoll Family Doctors(located above "your independent grocer") was killed Saturday night while driving his SUV on Muir lane near Woodstock.
According to police the vehicle he was travelling in crossed the centre lane shortly after 10pm where it struck another vehicle head on. The driver of the other vehice as not hurt but was taken to hospital with non-.
Shaughnessy was moved to hospital where he later succumbed to injuries he had received. Also killed in the crash was a passenger in the truck that was struck by Shaughnessy, Fred Bierma.
I've known Kelly since 1988. He was an awesome guy, a great father and a great family friend. I had just had a conversation about politics with him last week where he clued me in on a couple of issues related to health care and what really changed about it in the past few years.It's the administration of it that is killing it he said. The way the money is now handed out...the fact that doctors are paid in bulk and no doubt he said doctors would take advantage of this and do less work than before.
I will miss him entirely.
He was a staunch advocate for family medicine and for people taking charge of their health. He was a kind and generous man. He was our family doctor and our family friend.
