News...Straight from hell. These are the days my friend...i'm pretty sure they'll never end.

Do you agree with the Harper-Mackenzie plan to hobble Canadian seniors financially?

Conrad always has a way of putting things.

Prison system under stress

Prison system under stress

Vic Toews is full of crap or perhaps he just isn't educated enough to understand. Perhaps Vic is in the business of prison management to take out his agression for things that went wrong for him in his younger days...I don't know, but whatever the case, his ideology is chock full of nuts.
There is no other way to describe the man or his idea that violent crime is rising dramatically and that more
people fall victim to violent crime in Canada every day. His excuse for the growth of violence in the system that he operates(Canadas' penal system)is absolutely ridiculous. He claims that what goes on in Canadas' prisons is just a reflection of Canadian street life...which it clearly is not.
"Violence in the institution is a reflection of growing violence on the street. We continue to see violent crime at unacceptably high levels," Toews told QMI Agency.
Perhaps in one of the other countries he discusses in the story (why he started to discuss countries around the globe versus dealing with the problem that we have right here in our own backyards)you may have seen an increase in crime and violence, but in Canada, Statistics Canada says that Vic is dead wrong on that one...you see Canadas' violent crime stats fell 17% over the course of the past 10 years so whatever has gone wrong in the prison system that has allowed violence to go unchecked is likely the cause of cutbacks to a system that is being overcrowded with the CONservative tough on imaginary crime program.
A close friend of mine works in one of Canadas' federal penitentiaries says this guy running the system today is out of touch with reality, is slow to respond and fails to understand many issues as if they are out of his league....she even goes on to say that Stockwell Day (for christ sakes, as if anyone would say this)was at least on the ball and at least liasoned with staff regularly and had a very good idea of what was happening from day to day...he was hands on while Toews remains aloof and out to lunch..
She says, if there was ever an ideological appointment...this one is it and he works like one of the best duds that money could buy. Perhaps in Vic Toews small and twisted world there is a violent struggle taking place between good and evil. Perhaps Vic watches too many Batman flicks. Whatever the case, all that violence is in Vics' mind.
