Canadians Are Trying New Living Arrangements

UNEMPLOYED CANADIANS MOVING HOME
One thing that Canadians over the gae of 60 have in common these days is the fact that many of their grown children are moving home as a result of the poor economy and exceedingly high living costs while unemployed.
A friend of mine was telling me yesterday that their grown son is moving back home this month from another province after living there for the past 5 1/2 years working in the oil patch after being laid off from their position.
According to several news media outlets there is a glut of unrented apartments from one side of Canada to another despite people needing places to live. I suppose that housing has taken an economic kick in the pants as well, even rental housing.
I wonder how many other people are taking up residency with their parents now? And of course, I wonder how their parents feel about having their kids back home again after a few years away from the nest?
My friend said she did not look forward to another person in the house, and was concerned about how long this downturn thing may last. I cannot say that I blame her...we become accustomed to our privacy more than we like to admit.

That's what families are for. I'd rather see people dependant on one another than dependant on the state during times of hardship. Your family is less likely to screw you over.

  2. For sure...families should try to help each other out. (if they are capable)
