Schrieber and Mulroney...Let's Just Forget Both Of Them

EVERY CANADIAN ALREADY KNOWS WHAT BRIAN MULRONEY DID TO CANADA
We don't need a public inquiry for most Canadians to determine that former prime minister Mulroney was a sell out. The vast majority of us can fondly remember a time when Canada was owned by Canadians, a time before the free trade agreements of the Mulroney era and the NAFTA that followed on its' heels. Mulroney sold out our country and he continues to embarass our nation with his behaviour.
I still remember seeing stickers on items that said "Made In Canada",but Mulroney took care of that by promising unprecedented access to US markets in return for full and fettered access to our own markets. Of course all of those big Canadian business leaders fell for it, not understanding that their own futures would be limited in potential as they continued to fail to compete against US interests.
The fact is, the cost of doing business in Canada has remained fairly even, but what has changed is the cost of US companies doing business in Canada, and the access they have to cheap interest loans provided by Canadas' banks.
Canadian banks have financed the foreign takeover of our country. Through the usage of low interest loans subsidized through our government, our country has been bought up piece by piece. Foreign takeovers of Canadian companies financed by Canadian banks.
Free trade did not make Canada more competitive, free trade made Canada a picking ground for foreign nationals looking to buy up manufacturing infrastructure. After 20 years of free trade Canada is barely recognizable to itself.
Long before there was any mention of this Karlheinz Schreiber guy in the news, Canadians came to grips with the suspicions that our former PM sold us out and down the river.
The addition of Schrieber into the paradigm only solidifies the idea that Canada suffered miserably under the watch of this man and that anything Mulroney has to say should be greeted with a massive amount of suspicion.
Personally I look at the situation like this; When you are young your parents say things like don't hang out with the bully down the street lest you be judged as being a bully yourself.
Karlheinz Schreiber was a known gun and weapons runner, a known criminal who assisted in the demise of one west german chancellor through illegal campaign donations, and who by his own admission ferried money around to world leaders, prime ministers and presidents in return for access to the markets of those countries for the weapons he sold. Karlheinz Schreiber is a man with no conscience and the weapons he sold murdered thousands of persons around the world.
Thats' the kind of person our former Prime Minister liked to hang out with. We can only assume that they are cut from the same type cloth.

"We can only assume that they are cut from the same type cloth."

You were on a roll until you typed the above. Guilt by association? Despite strong suspicions I'd prefer to wait for proof.

So far the only proof to come out of this so-called "ethics investigation" is that the CBC is, in fact, the propaganda wing of the Liberal Party.

I gather from your report, you are no friend of Brians'.
Don't worry, not many of us are either.

I don't remember Cretin or Dithers getting rid of the Free Trade deal or the GST. Jimbo

Could you imagine attempting to abrogate the FTA/NAFTA? An immense snare of legal issues would consume our countries for decades to come.

They'd have found Cretin and Dithers face down in the Rideau.

I agree with that 100%...they are both lying.
Who would tear up an agreement that benefits the hell out of their country?

i would rather tell the states to go to hell, than i would continue to live under the crap that nafta etc causes for my blue collar family.

Personally I would like to see nafta revisited.

I have stated this on CBC.

I worked in Tillsonburg in one of the plants that supplied parts to one of the big 3.

At the time Japan was trying to get a foot in Canada and was looking to do it in our plant.

We lost not only their contract but in the end our plant.

Because of free trade, our company decided to close and head to the U.S. and Mexico.

The company prefered cheap labour over QUALITY CANADIAN work.

That was why Japan was looking to invest in Canada.

Canada was known for quality work despite our higher costs involved in producing.

If Japan had been allowed to enter our Canadian market in the auto sector back in the late 1990s,could you imagine what our auto sector would be like now?

They are KNOWN for their advanced technology.

The other things is freetrade ONLY WORKS if everyone follows the agreements.

The U.S. only follows it when it suits them yet Canada and Mexico are held to it's terms ALWAYS.

Canada holds the upper hand now with:natural gas, oil,WATER,etc.

Water AND food are going to be the MOST important commodities in the future and we should be working to ensure we not only have enough for Canada but also make sure we protect these assets.

As the U.S. continues to meddle in too many countries, they are starting to feel the backlash globally.

We maybe their closest neighbour but we also have to remember we are our own country first.

I have never forgotten when we refused to join in the war in Iraq, that any country didn't join them, than we were against them.

As time has told,it was the smartest move Chretien ever did for Canada.
