Bribes, Bribes and More Bribes

BRIBERY...101
According to many news reports, the CONservatives(or some officials of theirs whom they refuse to identify) apparently attempted to bribe Chuck Cadman(a former Conservative party MP who dumped the party to sit as an independent) in order to cement the vote against Paul Martins' minority government in 2005 whom they were attempting to topple over the 2005 budget.
Standing Order 23(1) states:
The offer of any money or other advantage to any Member of this House, for the promoting of any matter whatsoever depending or to be transacted in Parliament, is a high crime and misdemeanour, and tends to the subversion of the Constitution.
There ought to be an investigation into the suggestions that Cadman was offered a $1million life insurance policy(no small change for a man who was dying of skin cancer at the time) in order to swing his vote in the direction of the CONservative party.

Has Ian Hunter heard about this? Sounds like a job for the Integrity Commissioner.

He could interview everyone in Parliament, anyone who knows Chuck Cadman, and anyone who knows anyone who knows Chuck Cadman. At $250.00 / hour it could take him YEARS to figure out he can't conduct the investigation. By then everyone will have forgotten about it, the CPC will be happy and our favourite IC will be able to afford proper stationery.

Everybody wins!

This is shaping up into becoming a massive scandal.
Harper says he was aware of the offer. Then he says he didn't direct anyone to make an offer.he then says he was aware of financial considerations that were made to Chuck. But then he says, that does not amount to a bribe.he says that Dona Cadman(Chucks wife) is a fine candidate and credible enough to run as a conservative in the next general election, but then says her claim about the million dollars is not correct. he then says he was worried about the accusation 2 1/2 years ago and "personally" investigated the matter which turned out to be untrue.(according to his high calibre investigation skills)
Now he says he wishes not to talk about it.
The track record of this PM will show that in the past he has committed the same typed actions.
Take a break to 2006 when the conservative party offered Alan Riddel $50,000.00 to pull out of the Ottawa south race. They denied this...but a judge in ottawa saw things differently, and ruled that the CPC did make the offer.
In 2006 Harper directed his CPC to redirect a million dollars from local EDA's to the national campaign comittee. he claimed this never happened, but elections Canada ruled it did.
For someone who ran on a claim of transparency and accountability, his personal like for dirt politics becomes more odious each day that passes.
Mr Harper is a hyprocrite and Canadians hate hypocrites.

"Mr Harper is a hypocrite and Canadians hate hypocrites."

Nonsense. Canadians love hypocrites. They get elected on a regular basis. Hell, being a hypocrite is a requirement to hold office in this country. This will amount to nothing because it is simply business as usual.

How is this different from the Liberals buying Belinda with a cabinet seat that amounted to more money and more prestige? Favours, votes and seats are bought and sold routinely by our "honourable" members. They are all the same. It doesn't matter which party they belong to.

Welcome to Ottawa. Home of Canada's most prestigious brothel. They're all for sale. Just name your price.
