And What In The Heck Is This???

BY ALL INDICATIONS IT WOULD APPEAR WE ALREADY ARE FUNDING FAITH BASED SCHOOLS ASIDE FROM THE RC'S

This is absolutely ridiculous, but when out browsing, I found this budget clip from the protestant seperate school board of Penatanguishene.

What , someones' lying??

Noooo!

These guys lie, lie and lie, and tell you that it's the truth.

And hey, anyone read this sites' mantra??

http://edenhigh.ca/

Looks like we pay for this one too.

Given these circumstances , then we need to fund all religious schools, or immediately cut off all existing religious school funding.

What a bunch of crap.

Torys' Tories On Their Way To Oblivion

POLLS INDICATE TORY ON HIS WAY DOWN
Ontario Conservative Party members must be shaking their heads in disbelief after seeing a great opportunity go down the crapper.
John Tory, embattled leader of the Conservatives, has made the worst of a once good situation by deciding(and it appears it was his own decision) that he would fund religious schools against the wishes of the majority of Ontario residents and the wishes of his own party.
He might as well have ordered everyone to have their eye teeth pulled. He would have fared better in the polls.
Polls indicate the McGuinty liberals have a 10 point lead, sitting at 43 percent, while the Tory tories, are following at 33 percent of decided voters.
The NDP are sitting at 17% while the Greens trail them at 6% of the polls.
Ontario, according to the polls, appears to be headed towards another McGuinty liberal majority, meaning parents of kids with Autism will be waiting another 4 of 5 years for services.
The liberals have refused to fund autism therapy, leaving working families to fend for themselves while on the other hand, they now fund sex change surgery, and psycho therapy for people undergoing those gender changes, at zero cost to those persons, even though that surgery is elective by all means.
I suspect nothing will happen with this funding issue until a few of these elected arses find themselves in a similar situation and suffer the tragedy of having a child with autism.
There is no cure for autism, but there are long term measures that could help to stabilize these people and allow them to participate in society in some small way.
You would think that something that affects families in such a manner would be examined by government.

CONServative Drug Strategy Enormously Shortsighted

CANADIAN HEALTH MINISTER NEEDS TO SNAP INTO REALITY..OR MAYBE HE SHOULD SMOKE A FAT ONE, AND EAT SOME DORITOS.
This is a stunned decision...from a stunned cabinet minister.
In an Orwellian US styled move, Tony Clement Canadas' Health Minister has announced a get tough program that will cost $64 million aimed at stopping drugs. Awesome, $64 million down the tubes, while wait times are increasing and health care centres are struggling to survive. $64 million removed from health care instead of taking care of people who need hip and knee surgeries.
$64 million spent hunting down people who are no more dangerous than someone who eats too many joe louis in a day. Arresting people for addiction does not work, and will not work. Mr Clement is driving Canadian policies straight into the direction the White House demanded of him. And the US war has already failed.
"In the next few days, we're going to be back in the business of an anti-drug strategy," Clement told the media. "The partys' over" Clement stated in reference to the past few years when marijuana was almost decriminalized.
Arrests of marijuana users in some cities like Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal have risen as much as 50% this year alone. Police services across the country refuse to acknowledge the associated costs of arresting people as they do not have to report these costs at present, therefore the government has no idea how much money they will be spending on this issue aside from the $64million cash injection that was announced.
Clement will take his war on drugs into the streets, and will begin a program of mass arrests of pot smokers, dealers and smugglers this week he stated. Police will be diverted from hunting down gun criminals, murderers and fraud artists, leaving the majority of Canadians at peril. Mr Clement and his conservative party have decided that the publics' safety
is the least of their concerns, and have just diverted crime fighters' from the job of fighting real crimes.
Pot smokers are easy to arrest. They are very compliant. Of course if I was a police officer, I would rather arrest a pot smoker...because they would be so compliant, in comparison to someone who just robbed a bank at gunpoint. Why get bank robbers, when you can arrest some poor bugger huffing a doob behind a building somewhere? Why hunt down crack heads and junkies when you can get someone realitively easily who smokes pot?
Maybe Mr Clement was just thinking about police officers' safety when he decided he should take them off the job of fighting real crimes.
Or perhaps Mr Clement wasn't thinking at all.
Is this how they plan on peeing away that huge surplus they announced?

Obviously, I Am Not The Only One With An Issue With Politicians

THIS PERSON SEEMS MIGHTY DISENCHANTED WITH OUR CANDIDATES
I would just like to Thank You for your personal touch in your reply to my recent email that I sent to all the Parties about FRO. I would just like to let you know that you were the first one to reply to me and as of now I have only received one other email. I am really get fed up and am contimplating (wow big word) going to the newspaper about these other parties and lack of care... This is how the liberal email read,
Your email certainly brought to light the many deficiencies with the current system. I must admit, without having a background in, or experience with the system, I cannot readily provide solutions to the problems faced by yourself and many others in similar situations. The problems are complex, and I will not pretend that there can be an easy solution.

I know that the Liberal government has made progress in trying to assist with the problems many have with the Family Responsibility office, but I also know that there is more to do. I cannot promise that this can be addressed overnight, but I will promise that I will meet with yourself and others to gain a better understanding of the issues so that I can bring these forward and try to be part of the solution.

Brian.

I must say this is definately a different kind of email. He controdicts himself at least one time when he says " I cannot readily provide solutions to the problems faced by yourself and many others in similar situations" and "I know that the Liberal government has made progress in trying to assist with the problems many have with the Family Responsibility office, but I also know that there is more to do"

He says they have made progress with trying.... what the hell does that mean??

Anyways enough about him, I just have to say once again Thank you!! I think that the federal idea is a great idea as then it is all one system and you can not hide from one system to another. The SIN idea is great as well. Being able to tie a person to their child is just another form of responsibility however not in your reach, you cant just say no they aren't my children when your SIN is attached to them.

I emailed FRO Alberta the other day in reply to a pervious email that stated that penalty fee's were coming out of the money I was told I would receive, and here is what I said and what was replied to me.

Now what i want to know is why you are taking money away from MY KIDS to pay fees that HE OWES! $27.40 might not seem like a lot to you but when MY KIDS have gone without for 5 years because you did not do your job!!! The only reason that he has been caught is because of ME AND MY FAMILY did all YOUR work. We called the government and reported him for NOT filing his income tax only to find out that you have that same right to call them! We have spent hours looking for him to find out more info so that you might be able to do something. I have given you ALL the information that you have!!
I was told in a previous email that MY KIDS would be receiving $324 per mth for ongoing support and $276.00 per mth for arrears.Which i KNOW that he his making WAY more money now then he was when the support order was made. That support order was made on $10.00 per hour. Now my questions are how long are MY KIDS going to go without well you take their money for penalties that he owes? And why are you taking it off of the $600.00 instead of making him pay HIS penalties on top of the $600.00? This system that you have is CRAP!!! And I am going to make sure that EVERYONE knows it!!!

their responce,

Thank you for your recent e-mail inquiry concerning the Maintenance Enforcement Program. When funds are received by our program they are disbursed in the following manner, the creditor receives her monthly maintenance amount. Any remaining funds for that month are split 90/10. 90% to the creditor & 10% to the Alberta Maintenance Enforcement Program. For example if you look at your statement of account you will see that $300 was received at the beginning of September & $300 on September 19. You received the full $300 at the beginning of the month as your monthly maintenance amount is $324. When the other $300 was received you were automatically entitled to the $24. After that the remaining $276 was split 90/10. In regards to your order being drawn up on the bases that the debtor was only making $10/hr, you have the option of taking this matter back to court to have maintenance increased. Thank you for your inquiry.Kirsten Allen
How much bullshit is that???
Wow I am wandering, my mind is racing and I can't remember all I wanted to say. So expect another email. Thank you so much for treating me like a human and I will call on you if I need anything. Tie, Ps. I live at ++ Huron st and would very much appreciate a visit from you with some Bender Signs in tow. (Yes I said Signs plural we have room for a very large one too.) 519-421-1++5 is me call me and let me know if you are coming by as I would very much like to be here when you do. Tomorrow would be a great day, email me back if you would prefer insted of calling and we can set up a time. If you can not do it yourself feel free to send someone or we can come by Ladies tomorrow and pick them up. thank a bunchTie.

Hmmmmm,One More Reason To Buy Ontario

EVER SEE THOSE LITTLE CHICKENS AT GROCERY STORES ON A ROTISSERIE?

Morning starts early looking for dead chickens in rural China

This man and five others scour the local region on motorbikes looking everywhere and sking around for dead chickens

Ah, lucky today! A dead chicken costs 1 RMB.

Yelling at the photographer Sanitary chicken storage in courtyard
Dead chickens lie everywhere, stinking in the sun
Even the dog won't touch the rotting carcasses
Boiling the chicken in a rusty wok...for defeathering

Sometimes the stench is so bad, the workers puke on the chickens we buy
Picking the Carcasses Clean
Soaking the dead chickens in an old bathtub filled with river water helps to speed the decomposition process.
A Worker wearing sandals amongst the dead chicken throwing dye on the meat

Ensuring the colorant is spread evenly over the rotting chicken

This actually looks tasty...just like they do in the grocery stores here in Ontario

Norwich Debate Was Interesting, But Who Was Listening?

WE'VE HEARD EVERY SOLUTION ON EARTH FOR AGRICULTURE
Okay..
So, the cure for farming according to Liberal candidate Jackson is...THE OXFORD TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
According to him, darned near everything in Oxford could be fixed, cured or saved if we just ploughed more money into this Oxford Technical School.
Well, if we send all the young farmers to the technical school where they will learn some really good trades, chances are when they realize they can make $25.00 an hour welding, they just won't return to the farm. Who would want to scrape pig pens for a 1/3 of that?Or work for free for most of the year?
Stunned ideas like that will not keep farmers on the land. Part of the problem is that they produce excess food, and consumers want only "cheap" food, like chinese imported fruits and vegetables that are a third of the price of Ontario grown.
The second problem is the cost of operating a small farm is enormous. A farmer that runs 500 acres of land has the ability to "spread" his expenses out over a larger land base which will bring his cost of operation down. But a small farm with say 150 acres will have the same equipment costs, but not nearly as much land to spread that cost over.
It boils down to this...
Can we afford to keep the family farm in this age of multinational agri-businesses?
I really doubt that they will survive another 50 years.
Although I support doing what is necessary to keep Ontario eating ontario grown products, I do not know how we can stabilize this small family farm issue when the issue revolves around whether or not a farm can compete against his neighbour who has expenses spread out over large land bases.
According to Leonard V....
If we had not aborted all those 8000 Oxford residents, farmers would have places to sell their food????
A couple of issues were corn and soybean prices compared to minimum wage over a 21 year period.
The religious school issue(seems to be popping up everywhere...this one is a haymaker)seems to be dragging Ernie around by the nose. I can only bet that he is not too happy having to defend something he does not believe in personally.
The NDP spent their evening telling farmers that because the CCF was started by farmers, the NDP would save them.
Approximately 50 people(49 of them were campaign workers) attended the Norwich event sponsered by the Ontario Flu Growers Association and Ontario Federation of Agriculture.

Headed to Norwich Tonight

INTO THE CONSERVATIVE HEARTLAND WE GO
Tonight we'll be at the centre of Ernie Hardemans' support base...so let's see who pulls the knives out here.
Good thing..it's an OFA sponsered debate, and not just another meeting...stacked with party supporters and campaign workers.
Sometimes I wonder who there are more in the crowd of?
Some issues that I anticipate will be discussed are the exit strategy plan that tobacco farmers are looking for, the uploading/downloading of expenses between the province and the faith based funding issue(just stunned).
So..we'll do some door to door while out there..I've been buoyed by the response to my talks.

The week has been crazy...and this blog thing is picky...

TILLSONBURG DEBATE AT GOLF CLUB WENT WELL
Thank you Tillsonburg for such a good show of support.
Judging by the 21 emails i got this morning, I am assuming that things are not going well for Ernie Hardeman.
Tons of people seem to have liked my platform...a people agenda vs. that of the party agenda.
Mr Hardeman is having a difficult time downplaying the religious school issue. He spent his entire night defending the plan...from attack from his own supporters.
When I first got to the club he was surrounded by people who were giving him a hard time.
Jackson did not fare any better. His refusal to answer audience questions by deflecting blame onto the conservatives did not sit well with many who were present.
I had a libertarian approach me who said he was sad about Kaye, but thought I made an interesting alternative...considering the recall statement I made.
As well, I cornered Jackson and told him if he discusses the big lie that schools were functioning strike free...I would call him on it.
I did even though he didn't mention it...
(EA's were on strike in 2005 from may to june)
I gave Hardeman a good slam...or two..or was it three.
Felt like a good boxing match...and the verbal sparring worked out well.
All in all it has been a great week and I am happy this BLOGGER thing is working again!
Thanks Oxford for all the great letters!!!
You Guys Rock!

Tonight We Will Be At The Quality Inn

COME TO THE DEBATES, AND BRING YOUR MANURE BOOTS!
Tonight marks the fourth in a series of debates(actually..these are speeches without debate).
There will be many issues presented, but mainly the focus will be on the liberals or the ndp or the pc party. This debate begins at 7:00 pm at Best Western, Quality Inn. Be there!
The rest of us are just there to keep the seats warm...and to just fill the hall.(without us, no one would be there, except for pc party members, and ndp members, and liberal members...and of course...journalists...who consume as many seats as all the rest combined)
So, we will watch these main guys debate(or say their speeches), and we will listen to their point form answers..taken from some policy manual, because they have no idea what they are talking about. (that is because no one from the big three...aside from Hardeman have been involved in anything, and frankly they are all faceless branded people anyways)
So, I will just continue on my way, and will carry on as though they do not exist.(that's how it was before the election, this is how it will be after)
This is my fourth campaign now. I have run against many people and many parties.
During the "off" season, these candidates are never heard of. In fact, many of them seem to have dropped from the face of the earth. Shows how much they care, and thank goodness we did not elect them! I have often wondered why get involved if you do not want to remain involved? And why disappear into the night?
Me, I tend to wear my thoughts and heart on my sleeve for all to see. It may not be good all of the time, but I am there all of the time.
I will never fade away. I believe that if you really believe in something that strongly, you will stay the course, no matter what, against all the odds.
Like I have said before, it is not about winning...it is about being correct and doing the right things for people.

Many CONServatives Plan To Vote Against Tory's Religious School Funding Plan

STATE SPONSERED RELIGIOUS SCHOOLS ARE DUMB, ACCORDING TO MANY CONSERVATIVE MPP'S
Guaranteed, this guy just lost his chance at a ministers job.
John Torys' plan to fund religous schools has taken on a life of its' own now.
In a stunning revelation to the media, Bill Murdoch, MPP for Bruce Grey Owen Sound stated that he would vote against the bill if it were ever introduced, and has sent a letter to the tory leader indicating such.
"The media and the McGuinty Liberals would have you believe that should John Tory form a government, funding would be extended to faith-based schools across the province the next day. This is untrue, and frankly, impossible," said Murdoch
"However, you have my word that should this come before the legislature, as it stands today, with the majority of my riding opposed, I will vote against it."
Murdoch had initially backed Torys' plan, but after massive protest in his riding, he came out against it in support of the population instead.
Mr Murdoch, get on the phone and call your associates and tell them to jump from the bus before it crashes.
In a time when Ontario should be working on bringing children together, John Tory introduces a plan to divide them up.
Funding religious schools is folly when we cannot pay for the existing service of education that we have.

And Just What Is This Drilling Rig Doing In Lake erie?

17 KILOMETRES FROM PORT BURWELLS' SHORE, THIS IS WHAT I FOUND
A picture I shot while out on Lake Erie. Apparently it is a Talisman rig, but I have no idea what it might be doing out there. Anyone got an answer for this one?

We shot these pics(taken from a video)of this "oil" rig or drilling platform. One person I spoke to thought it may be a transfer station for natural gas.

Ingersoll All Candidates Meeting

POVERTY ISSUES WERE NOT WELL ADDRESSED
The debate held last night at the CAW hall on Victoria street, Ingersoll was fairly well attended....by mostly party hacks, and journalists!
There was one issue that did not recieve a decent answer from these big parties, and that issue was poverty.
A question from the audience illicited a stunned response from the Liberal candidate Jackson who read from his platform notes(provided by his party)verbatim in point form. The candidate struggled to answer this question for several reasons, and even by the end of his answer, he had still not answered the question that was asked of him and the rest of us. He did not seem to comprehend the depth of the question.
I think primarily that one cannot possibly fight poverty, unless one has actually been there. How can you explain the feeling of an empty stomach when you have not experienced this yourself?
I answered the question in this manner;
I believe that child poverty and poverty in general could easily be eliminated. My main concern is seeing that children are fed properly. It is impossible to learn while your stomach is grumbling. I explained that the first people who see these kids on a daily basis, school teachers in particular should be working to identify these have not kids, and that school age breakfast and lunch programs should be expanded to cover any kid that needs to eat.
I am not against spending tax dollars on this issue.
In fact, I would gladly pay more if I knew that some child was going to have a decent well balanced meal instead of going hungry.
Poverty is no ones fault, least of all the children in our communities. They are victims in all of this.
Giving each child a complete start to their day in the form of a healthy breakfast would be of more benefit than any other single program we can think of. Just think, one of those kids might grow up to be the next doctor or even a prime minister. And who could want to deprive any child of opportunity?
Only a compassionate society will make things better.

23 September 2007

Off To The East!

TODAY WE'LL HEAD TO EASTWOOD, PLATTSVILLE,PRINCETON AND DRUMBO

The weather is great, the reception even better.
Tons have people have been happy to see me out there and are glad that someone is honest about not having to kiss the great leaders' butt.
From what I am being told by many who have allowed me the opportunity to speak with them, they are concerned with many issues, but not many of the issues the parties are claiming are the only issues.
People are worried, and genuinely should be. They are concerned about dollars and cents, and how they can afford their property taxes when their wages don't match that rise in taxes. people are concerned about the health care system and agriculture.
Big issues, no big parties wish to answer.

Something I Just Cannot Understand...

WHERE OH WHERE WILL THEY GET THE MONEY FROM?
One thing we hear with some degree of regularity is how these parties all intend to spend your money. They just never tell us how they plan to raise these infinite dollars.
The NDP has made some spectacular promises with a tentative spending increase of $16.8 billion dollars, not including Autism therapy funding which could be hundreds of millions in itself.
On top of that pre-planned increase in spending, are plans to reduce taxes(the dreaded health care tax)and to reduce electrical rates to big business. They also propose "freezing tuitions for college and university at pre-2003 levels, and an expansion of OHIP financed services which would cover physiotherapy, optometry and chiropractic medicines, all at an undetermined cost to the province at this point. These costs could be staggering to us, the taxpayers.
I would suggest repairing the current system before expanding it.
The Liberals' monster platform promises $14.7 billion in new spending by 2012. They have no idea on the costs of their new tax cut programs and credits at this point. Highlights include funding full day pre-school program, cutting taxes on corporate assets and hiring 9,000 new nurses.(I'll believe it when I see it) They too have promised to address the Autism issue, but have no idea how. I think they too are lying, just as before.
The Conservatives are promising $14.1 billion in additional spending by 2012 as well as tax cuts totalling $3.8 billion. Tory promises to fund faith based schools(an absolutely stunned idea), eliminate using 905-area taxes for services in the G T Area and phasing out the health-care tax. He has no real idea where he will get the money from, but it will come from us. His promise to "take care of Autism" rings empty for parents as he has no firm numbers on how he intends to pay for this either.
The Greens seem fairly empty as well.
Their primary focus on electoral reform to a mixed member (MMP) system, turning back the clock on climate change and amalgamating school boards into a single, publicly funded school system seems lifeless in many regards. Their continual refusal to address the realities of common sense when dealing with the economy and the effects of an environmental crackdown has left them skirting the fringes, and may well for some time to come. Their response that things will result as a redirection of taxes is narrow minded at best. But their intent is good and they do add the decency element to the campaign. Many of their costs are enormous in comparison to other parties, but perhaps in the very long run, they might pay off. But are the people and business willing to pay that enormous cost?

Where I'll Be Today....

a wee bit of an itinerary
Today we will be in Tavistock, Hickson, Embro, Harrington, and Lakeside handing out flyers, and shaking hands.
Yesterday was spent hanging posters in Woodstock, Innerkip and Bright...thanks to the ever growing team of people who are feeling disenfranchised from the politial parties.
Thank you for all of your help...and there is much more to do.
Many people that we have contacted at their doors have expressed a deep dissatisfaction over the environment, the lack of recall in our system, the huge growth in taxes, and the fact the parties have reduced democracy to a shell game of lies and deceit.
This is not an orange or a blue or a red revolution. This is a movement of people united intheir opposition to bad government, and elected members who only appear to stand up for their parties, and not us.

Where Is The Meat In This General Election?

THE LIBERALS, CONSERVATIVES AND THE NDP SEEM TO HAVE FORGOTTEN ABOUT MANY ISSUES
Like I've said before, the priorities of the parties, are much more different than that of you and I.
While the parties are bickering over who did what, who spent what and who had the biggest deficit, and who made the deficit, we the people of Ontario are sitting here wondering what exactly is on any of their agendas as most of their time has been spent blaming one another for all sorts of silly things.
This is why I say that the majority of wrongs we see are accumulated failures of successive governments. The focus of Ontario has been driven into the ground, and now all that is focused on is keeping the "party" in power, and making sure your elected member tows the party line.
Before any of the candidates speak, they generally consult with their parties. They ask what it is they are allowed to say, and they ask what they are not allowed to say.
If we had wanted to elect a robot...we could have built one.
The party is not human in any regards, and for that reason alone, I wonder why we continue to vote for a party...that has no responsibility to "people" and certainly no feelings towards you.
On all of their "party" information you see requests for donations almost before you see anything else. The focus is on your money...and how to extract it from you. If they can't take it in taxes...they will beg it from you in the form of a donation. The parties have no idea who you are, but they are familiar with your money, and can relate to your cash...more than you.
PARTIES ARE NOT ACCOUNTABLE TO PEOPLE.
PEOPLE ELECTED UNDER A PARTY BANNER ARE FIRST AND FOREMOST INDEBTED TO THEIR PARTY LEADER, AND THEN TO THE PARTY...AND SOMEWHERE ALONG THE LINE, THEY MIGHT TAKE YOUR QUESTION, IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY FIRST.

City Of Windsor Sees Massive Influx Of Mexican Immigrants

WINDSOR ONTARIO IN DISTRESS AS MEXICAN IMMIGRANTS FLOOD OVER THE BORDER
Eddie Francis, the mayor of Windsor, Ontario says that if the influx of mexican immigrants continues on into his city from the United States, he will run out of funds and he has already run out of emergency space to put them in.
"Just yesterday evening, we received another 20 (people). I have no place to put them," he stated last night. Francis says his city has spent nearly a quarter of a million dollars taking care of these immigrants. More than 200 mexicans have arrived in the past 10 days alone, and there are rumours that another group of more than 200 are on their way to Windsor after a group of Florida companies began advertising that they could help Mexicans across the Canada-US border for a large fee.
Since the first groups arrival, 1 woman has given birth, and another is a few days away from giving birth.
Dozens of these people and their families have begun to recieve social service supports at a cost to Ontario taxpayers.
The movement to head to Canada comes after a massive crackdown in the United States against all illegal immigrants. George Bush has promised to empty Americas' workplaces and streets of illegal immigrants and as a result, they are running north.

SOME OF OXFORDS' FINEST RESIDENTS!
Does anyone know what this speckled bird is?

Riddles Abound

DID YOU WATCH THE LEADERS DEBATES?
There was no clear winner in the leaders' debates last night, but there sure was a lot of runny shit flying..so I sure am glad I wasn't there!
I thought the mediator should have had goggles on to protect his eyes from it.
John Tory and Dalton McGuinty spent the best part of the evening verbally beating each other to a pulp...while Howard Hampton hung from the sidelines tossing the odd nasty in when he was able to.
At first I thought that Tory had come out on top...or so it appeared...but then McGuinty came out swinging against the Tory promise to pilfer the provincial coffers in order to satiate the voting religious fundementalists who would see to it that Ontarios' education system designed for the public falls to pieces...if they get their way that is.
Howard Hampton came in with a round of orange bitch slaps towards Dalton, but Dalton just redirected the spraying citric acid into Howards' eyes when he retorted that Bob Rae had denied funding not only once, but twice for autistic kids during the NDP years in power, 1992-1995. Howard Hung his head in shame after being confronted on that issue.
Then Tory attacked McGuinty over the health care tax...another broken liberal promise and Dalton fought back blaming the CONservatives for the tax hike as a result of the $5.6 billion deficit they left for the province when they were tossed out of office in 2003.
So...by the end of the debate there was no clear winner in my eyes.
I'm sure that each of them thought that they had won...at least the John Tory campaign claimed in an email that this was the case, but really all that happened was a debate of denials.
Not one of them wished to accept responsibility for their actions, and all of them reiterated that none of them would support a move for the voters' right of recall.
Go figure. Although I never expected all of them to support recall, I fully expected the NDP to do so..especially after receiving an email from their local riding, stating that the NDP supports recall legislation.
Perhaps Howard just forgot about that one.

My Top Priorities In This Election

BETTER THAN A DAVID LETTERMAN LATE NIGHT LIST
After giving this some thought...and a rewrite after the hydro went out and I lost EVERYTHING!!! I have decided(with a gracious amount of input) that these items are the focus of my campaign for MPP
1/ Add the right of recall to the proposed changes to the elections act. This right of recall should be extended to the municpal election process.
2/Ban subsidies to political parties in all forms. Any party wishing to become involved in the process should pay for it out of its' own pocket.
3/An end to the year end grant review process(just another way for ministers to spend your money without being accountable)
4/A comprehensive environmental bill of rights...that has teeth, and includes a province wide ban on the cosmetic usage of pesticides. This bill will include protection for green spaces, and a new review process for bulk water extractions that could affect aquifiers. A moratorium on developing provincially owned parks and conservation areas.
5/Funding for post secondary education that does not rely on parental income in the formulation. Extend this tuition to all trades, and all types of post secondary education.
6/Removing funding for all faith based education bringing the RC system into the public system and funding that public system decently for all Ontario kids.
7/The extension of IBI services throughout the school system for the treatment of autism. Amending the education act to allow for those therapists to actually get into the schools.(this is 50% of the problem...the unions have worked against this as these therapsists are not accredited teachers)
8/A comprehensive farm income stabilization program based on the prior years' income that would be paid out before the start of crop season, in order to allow for the better planning of crops, and the purchase of fuel and to make the necessary repairs to equipment.
9/Removing coal fired electric plants from the grid after adding new energy forms, like wind, solar and biofuels. Allow for any Ontario resident to add to the electricity grid if their equipment meets provincial guidelines.
10/Ensuring that our health care system remains public in all aspects. Allow for the certification of doctors who are immigrants(who are usually driving cabs in Toronto)in a more relaxed manner which will help to alleviate the waiting list for a doctor. Teach healthy practices and living in all schools. Many illnesses could be prevented with education.(like smoking related illness, pollution related illness and sun related cancers)
11/A roving provincial integrity commissioner who would have the right to investigate all complaints by the citizens of any municipality who have misgivings on clarity, accountability and malfeasance in their cities, towns and municipalities, who would be directly responsible to the Minister responsible for the OMA with a public reporting mecahnism.
12/ My personal guarantee to you that I would follow the law and the will of the people on all issues, and that I would attend all public meetings called by the citizens in this riding, and that I would institute town hall meetings 1 x per month in each town/city in the riding. This means I would attend a meeting in Ingersoll, Tillsonburg, Norwich and Woodstock on at least 1 occasion per month, on top of keeping an office open for the public to attend to at their will.
My position is that the party system has reduced our democratic rights so much that it is impossible for anyone to say that they will keep their word when they must keep the word of their party bosses. This is why we end up with lying politicans.

After More Deliberation...I've Twisted My Own Arm Into Running

I'VE FILED MY PAPERS AS AN INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE FOR THE ONTARIO ELECTIONS
I just couldn't sit around anymore. I think I have heard too much crap from these people to want to sit in an audience listening to them.
After discussions with NDP candidate Mike Cuomo and realizing that his party leader was shooting his lips off when he said he would take care of the autism issue, and really did not have a viable funding solution to this long standing issue I decided that I would go in and take this up myself in order to bring this problem to the forefront of the debates.
All of the parties have agreed to take care of this, but none of them know how to pay for it or where they will get the money from so I have asserted that they are lying.
Later on I will post my agenda...
it will contain a list of items that are massively important and will focus on being socially liberal, but fiscally conservative, with a strong emphasis on the environment and the Ontario Municpal Act. I fully expect to hear from as many people as possible on building a viable and strong campaign that will ultimately influence the local outcome.
It's not about winning...it's about being correct.
And yes, the right of recall!

Municpal Employees Use Vehicles For Pleasure

CITY WORKERS USE CITY OWNED VEHICLES FOR ...TRIPS TO THE BAR
Is there any oversight on the city's part when it comes down to the issue of employees using city owned vehicles to go bar hopping?
Damned near everyday I will drive by the Norwich plaze(home of the Little Pub) only to spot City of Woodstock vehicles parked in the lot.(usually somewhere away from the bar...like down at the south end of the lot, or in front of the Bamboo restaurant.)
So, I thought just for fun we'll keep an eye out for this one...
This past week we ordered a pizza from Sebastians and did some spying/waiting.(onl;y because there was a city truck parked there)
After a small amount of time I watched a city manager leave the bar, jump into his city of Woodstock truck...and off he goes.(with no seatbelt to boot)
This same manager I have spotted coming out from this bar and driving away numerous times in the past and now I wonder, how much does he consume in there, and what are the rules pertaining to city emplyees using equipment for their personal leisure, at the expense of the tax -payer?
I really had not given it much though until a couple of weeks ago when Dino(a local business guy) complained in a newspaper article about county trucks sitting at the local strip club...on our dime.
So, what would happen say if one of those employees were shitfaced, and smacked up a city vehicle? Just who would be liable?
Would the city be liable because they allowed their employees to be drinking on the job, or using city vehicles during their drinking expeditions?
It would be interesting to know the asnwer to that one.
The mayor should be putting his foot down on this issue, but it appears that he has no interest...or this would have been addressed earlier.

An Interesting Conversation With A Conservative Party Supporter...

I MET A LITTLE OLD LADY IN THE FORMER IGA NOW FOODTOWN
Yesterday I made a trip to one of my local grocery stores, Foodtown on Dundas street in Woodstock to pick up a few things to make a fiery batch of chile.(oh my god I will tell you about that later!)
Anyways, this little old lady approaches me..asks me if I am me(I wasn't sure if I was at that point)and starts up a conversation about All Saints Church(someone wishes to turn it into low income housing)and some local issues like Burgess Park.
She told me she had worked on Ernie Hardemans campaign twice, and was asked to man the phones again this year.
She told me that she told Hardemans' team no! She said that she could not vote for Hardeman this time around because he was foolish enough to agree with Tory on the faith based funding proposal, and she said that she was not alone in that position. Apparently many people are regretting this move by John Tory.
I discussed with her the fact that perhaps Ernie doesn't agree with this position at which point she stated that he had little choice but to support the move, even though he may be personally against the idea.
She said that for the first time in her 65 years of voting(she was 80 something) she would not be voting for a conservative candidate, and was wondering if I would run.
I told her that I had decided against it for this poll, but would be back in the race for the city again...and probably federally..whenever Harper decdied to sit it out.
She told me that the last federal election she had a Mackenzie sign on her lawn, but said she would proudly display a Bender sign on her lawn in its' stead. She was impressed with our stance on the environment, the stance we have taken on water permits and the fight to protect Burgess and Standard tube parks from the developers axe and the fact that we refuse to back down. She said she was completely encouraged to see that younger people have taken up the guantlet for justice, and that as a result she had found the courage to stand up and fight for dismissal of the All Saints Church project.(which according to her does not sit well with her more than 100 neighbours who signed a petition asking council not to move on this rezoning from institutional to high density residential.) She said that because she had seen how aptly I had spoken at council that she felt she could do the same. And that is good.
So, I guess that I'd just like to say thanks to all of the people who cared and were concerned.
This is good indication that what we are doing is good and proper, and that many people are impressed with our ability to stay the course.
There really is nothing better than a kind thank you and a few good words.
And that is the kind of Woodstock I wish to live in.

The Largest Tax Increases Happened Under NDP and Bill Davis' Watch

THESE GUYS ARE JUST PROFESSIONAL LIARS..THAT'S ALL.
For a couple of weeks now we have heard lots of talk about how the Ontario Health Tax is the largest tax increase we've ever had in Ontario. All of the opposition parties have climbed on board of that one and have made some absolutely stunned claims about this issue.
Well, turns out..that is just more bullshit from the squirming opposition.
In 1992 under Bob Rae's tenure, Ontario raised personal income taxes more than 3% as well as a bevy of new surtaxes that were brought in to stabilze the governments' coffers after their election. Does anyone remember Bob Rae saying that he had to do this because theLiberals/ Conservatives had left Ontario in such bad shape?
In 1981 Bill Davis increased provincial taxes to the tune of 3.7% of Ontarios' GDP which would indicate that if translated into todays' dollars that this would be the largest tax increase in our history versus the suggestion that the liberal health tax was the largest.
So, when it comes down to it, there is no difference in tax regimes under one or the other government...they will all raise your taxes contrary to what they say at election time.

Just Fuggg Elections Canada; Just Issue Brown Bags To All Canadians

IN KEEPING WITH GOVERNMENT TRADITION, WE SHOULD ALL JUST BECOME FACELESS CREATURES
They could just call us the wavering masses...or something silly like that.
The latest election row is brewing between the bureacrats at Elections Canada and the backroom strategists of the big political parties over whether or not to permit the wearing of veils or other religious face covering gear. Marc Mayrand told the Commons standing committee on procedure and the House affairs committee that legislation allowing women to vote while wearing a veil is "clear and unambiguous." He says that him changing the rules would be a request "to amend the Act, not uphold the law" ... something he is not about to do.
"I will not in the current circumstances because that would be a requirement for me to offend the Act, not uphold the law on the books," he told committee members.
OFFEND THE ACT???
What the heck!
He says that in 140 years of electoral history in Canada there has never come a time when women who wore religious head gearwere forced to show their faces at the polling booth.
140 years??? Does he know when women gained the right to vote in Canada? Perhaps this man is not the man for the job if he is unable to make changes to the system.
Well...perhaps it is time...that his job is elected as well.(to someone who possesses the academics required to operate such an organization with such a wide mandate..someone who is capable and competent in his job.)
It is absolutely stunned that these people who have made a PERSONAL CHOICE to cover their faces for some silly religious reason(which has no business insinuating itself into any governmental operation or wing)could reasonably expect their personal choice to infringe upon the basic tenets of democracy.
It is offensive to Canadians that they are permitted at this time to do this.
If Elections Canada refuses to budge, then the government should issue brown bags to all of us, permitting us the same anonymity that these others possess under our system. It might sound funny, but it would illustrate to those people how silly their demands are.
Elections Canada needs an overhaul. How many good ideas has Elections Canada come up with lately anyways?
They have failed Canadians in their role as operators of the electoral system. For 140 years they have presided over gross inequities in the system, and during that period prevented some of the most vulnerable Canadians to vote which were most notably women in the early history of our nation.
In the latter part of the 20th century they paid out millions of dollars in taxpayer money to fund political parties that they chose to fund arbitrarily. Some political parties were left out of the funding structure, including until the 2006 general election, the Green Party, and yet to this day the Canadian Action Party, The Marijuana Party, The Christian Heritage Party, and the Marxist-Lenin Party. This act unto itself is proof that Elections Canada has a strong history of discrimination and I find it rather unsurprising that they would choose to discriminate against the majority of Canadians.
Elections Canada needs an overhaul in a huge way.

NDP Leader Howard Hampton Says He Will Fund Autism.

NO HOWARD, YOU ARE WRONG. WE TAXPAYERS WILL FUND AUTISM TREATMENT...NOT YOU
No one party will be the hero here on this issue. This will take a concerted effort from all parties to deal with this massive pandemic. I am not appealing to any one single party here and I refuse to be tied to any one party during this election as this issue is greater than a bunch of buffoons who are busy lying their faces off to get their fat asses back into the legislature.
I think I have had i
